Art & Writing Contest

 

All Chatham County middle and high school students are invited to participate in the Savannah Jewish Federation’s annual Holocaust writing and art contestStudents are asked to use their creativity to express the difficult and inspiring lessons of the Holocaust. Due to this challenging year, the subject of the contest is more open than in years past. Students may enter the writing contest by submitting a poem, newspaper article, story, play/dialogue or essay OR enter the art contest Students may create a sculpture, drawing, photograph, painting, poster, collage or video.

Reading of the Names

 

Each Yom HaShoah, we read the names of children who perished in the Holocaust. This year, on Thursday, April 28 from 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM, names will be read in the JEA lobby.

Memorial Rededication

 

Join together in front of the JEA at 6:30 PM on Thursday, April 28 (right before the Community Commemoration) to rededicate the beautiful memorial that has been rehabed nd updated. 

Community Commemoration

 

Join together as a community to commemorate Yom HaShoah on Thursday, April 28 at 7:00 PM at the JEA.  
 
Highlights include:
- Remarks from Savannah Rabbis
- Winners of the Yom HaShoah Art & Writing Contest
- Lighting the memorial candles
- Keynote speaker: Ted Kleiser
