Enhancing the Quality of Jewish Life in Savannah, Georgia

Savannah Jewish Federation: It Works for our Community

Last year, the campaign achievement was $1,435,560. In addition, SJF allocated $57,000 to local agencies for special projects from its budget savings. That money was available only one time!

We need to raise an additional 15% to meet our goal of $1,600,000.

We want you to know why!
$365 One month of pre-school for an at-risk Ethiopian Israeli child.
$400 Cost of one week of camp, per child, for 40,000 Israelis living in northern Israel during the Hizollah missile attacks in July through August of 2006.
$700 A scholarship for one needy child for one month of JEA Summer Camp ( 104 children participated this summer; 38 received scholarships totaling $15,000).
$725 Cost of 1-year tuition for full program for Shalom School students (80 students attend Shalom School, 2006-2007).
$830 Scholarship for a full family JEA membership (Over $25,000 worth of scholarships were given this year).
$1,000 A hearing aid for a Jewish senior in our community.
$1,000 One Birthright Israel subsidy (25 Jewish students from Savannah will have participated by 12/31/2006).
$2,500 Leadership Development program for 25 promising leaders in our community.
$2,718 Cost of providing 453 free Senior meals to those who need it for the year.
$8,025 One-year tuition scholarship for Middle School for Rambam Day School.
$25,000 Cost of Federation initiative to “Grow Savannah” (in two years, we have relocated 29 new families and have 200 inquiries).
$25,000 JEA needs additional funds to cover the cost of building upgrades – insurance has increased over 50% and the cost of maintenance over 25% in the past year, straining the ability of the JEA to maintain our community facility.
