JCC Maccabi Games

Team Savannah

The Savannah Delegation is taking 11 teen athletes to Richmond, VA to compete against other Jewish teen athletes from around the country. The teens that are competing are Isaac and Matthew Freedman, Samuel Raskin, Jared Samuels, Allison Hagan, Max Strauss, Elliott Kooden, Marissa Levine, Josh Goldstein, Sophie Lichtman, and Evan Bridges.

These athletes are continuously fund raising in order to fund the trip. The following are things that they are going to be selling through June: $1 shoes, $12 Krispy Kreme doughnut cards, car washes, and grilling by the pool. If you would like to purchase any items or donate to the cause, please call Stephanie Johnson or the front desk at 355-8111.

SilverSneakers® Now at the JEA!

In recognition of the unique needs of older adults in the community, the JEA has partnered with the nationally recognized Healthways SilverSneakers® Fitness Program.

The JEA now offers older adults a way to increase their levels of physical activity while motivating them to remain active. SilverSneakers® is the nation's leading exercise program designed exclusively for older adults. It is available at little or no additional cost (beyond any monthly premium) to eligible Medicare health plan and group retiree members.

We have two instructors that are SilverSneaker certified: Elaine Fox and Dawn Tanis. The classes we are offering as part of this program are:

SilverSneakers® Muscular Strength & Range of Movement
This class offers something for everyone, and can help improve overall strength and flexibility. Elaine or Dawn will guide you through the exercises at your own pace.

Cardio Circuit
Aerobic or cardiovascular exercise is the highlight of SilverSneakers Cardio Circuit. The class features upper-body strength workouts using hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and fitness balls. A chair is available for support and easy head-to-toe stretching. Elaine will help each individual reach their goals within the class. You will enjoy the extra mobility and energy that comes from joining one of our new signature classes.

FITNESS CLASSES

The JEA offers so many fitness classes for you to enjoy! From Pilates to aquasize, aerobics to yoga, there is something for everyone.
