Jewish Family Services

Jewish Family Services (JFS): It is a Jewish tradition to care for the less fortunate. Through Jewish Family Services, staff and volunteers visit nursing homes, deliver meals to go, provide financial assistance and provide support and services for people who need them.

Lunch, Laugh, and Learn at the “J”
Join J.F.S. Lunch and Dine programs at the Alliance.
Friends, family plus informational, entertaining and stay fit programs.

Lunch. Learn & Play Thursdays
Programs & speakers for an informative and entertaining lunch. Speakers on Health topics, Isreal, and even the world tour by the Kole family. This is the place for delicious kosher lunches and informative programs, then join one of our unique and varied fitness programs to fit every need. Call for a schedule of topics and programs.

Candlelight Dinners
Dress up or come casual to our Community Dinners with a flair for entertainment. From Johnny Mercer to JAZZ at the J, plus wine and outstanding fare. Guest cooks bring a varied menu, and a chance to dress up and go out for a Kosher dinner. Truly, why cook and T.V. when you can join us for a casual dinner at the Alliance?

Intimate Lunch on Mondays and Wednesdays
Join our regulars for a small “lunch bunch.” Join us for a swim, a schvitz and perhaps a Yiddish class. Or come in early for a fitness workout or join one of our classes made just for you.

Jewish Family Life Education Programming
Designed to educate, support and help seniors cope with challenges in everyday living. We also strengthen Jewish families and promote a sense of personal growth, awareness and connection to the Jewish community. We have programs on health, safety, nutrition, spirituality, art and other topics of interest.

Senior Health and Information Fair
The Senior Health Fair is held annually in May (Older Americans' month) and provides medical screenings and health information as well as other information about eligibility programs.

Community Education
We keep in touch with those less mobile in community nursing homes and high-rises before each major Jewish Holiday, explaining the meanings and customs of the holiday to help insure a greater sensitivity to Jewish residents.

RSVP/Volunteers
Visits for frail, sick or isolated individuals in nursing home facilities, high-rises or their homes; Volunteers work in administrative and reception areas at local hospitals or charity organizations. RSVP volunteers are also a vital part of the success of the JEA and JFS programs. Volunteers assist with the kosher lunch program, assist in offices at the JEA and in the community.

Counseling
Psychotherapy services are provided to all age groups by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to help Jewish individuals and families overcome life’s hurdles.

Financial Assistance
Financial help is available on a limited basis. The goal of financial assistance is to assist individuals who may be struggling financially to insure shelter, nutrition, health and safety.

Case Management
The goal of JFS is to provide a support system to meet the needs of adults striving to maintain independence. This process begins assessment through treatment.

Assessment/Referral & Information
Calls and visits received from clients who need to become aware of and referred to other agencies for assistance are very commonplace. The goal of this program is to connect clients with appropriate eligibility programs to help insure quality of life.
